McHenry County School Portraits
We all know how stiff and awkward traditional school photos are. You get two poses to choose from, often with forced smile, and of course we can’t forget about a cheesy, background - 80s style. Some people enjoy it but for those who want something more, something modern, I have a different option.
What is Fine Art School Photography?
It is a modern approach to school photos that provides genuine and timeless portraits that parents actually love. I use simple black backdrop, so the focus is on your children’s facial expressions. It will never go out of style. I provide both color and black and white versions of photos to match your specific needs.
My aim is to go beyond the cheesy traditional images.
I make sure the kids are as comfortable and relaxed as possible so their personality shines through. My sessions are not rushed but I do work fast enough to capture a variety of expressions before a child looses interest. With 15 years of experience I learned how to efficiently capture personalities of children in front of my camera. No forced smiles. Only genuine, natural expressions which make for images that are unique, meaningful and timeless!

Who?
My specialty is younger children so I focus on photographing kids from birth to about 12 years of age, but I do photograph older kids as well.
I work with preschools, day cares, smaller private schools and of course any family that wishes to have the school portraits taken.
I have a special place in my heart for homeschooling families. If you homeschool your children or belong to a co-op, reach out to me to get more information about homeschooling events and rates. I offer both studio look and more casual outdoor options for families that focus on outdoor or nature classes.

Where?
I want to keep it super easy for all families that I photograph, so I have a portable backdrop that I bring with me to a chosen location.
I travel to photograph kids in Chicago’s northwest suburban areas, as well as McHenry, Lake and Kane Counties of Illinois.
When?
I work with each individual preschool, school or parent group to schedule shoots any time during the academic year.
